Semi Permanent Make Up & The Pharaohs

It may surprise you to know that Semi Permanent Make Up (SPMU) is something that has been around for a couple of thousand years! Yes! Dating back to Egyptian times, Cleopatra herself may have emerged from her bath of donkey milk to have her eyebrows hairs gently calved into her brows and a pigment rubbed into the fine strokes leaving her with the appearance of fuller and thicker eyebrows. This is not a new “fad” by any stretch however, for years it was unaffordable for anyone who wasn’t a celebrity or uber rich. These days Semi Permanent Make Up Artists are in abundance in nearly every town across the country….but who do you know who to choose? Start by having a look at Technician’s websites, Instagram and Facebook feeds. Do you like the look of their work? Do they have good reviews? Are they insured? Is their Treatment Rooms clean and sterile. Do not be tempted by “mobile” Semi Permanent Make up Artists as these days insurance does not cover for mobile practitioners as the area were a treatment is to be carried out must adhere to certain restrictions for example, all surfaces must be able to wipe down with disinfectant. So whilst the appeal to have your Eyebrows/Lips/Eyeliner Tattooed on in the comfort of your own home with your legs up resting on your sofa, imagine the increased risk to infection? And if you were to get an infection, would your SPMU Technician have the adequate knowledge to offer you sound aftercare advise? If they have not got insurance to do the treatment in the first place then the chances of them having attended a First Aid Course makes those chances slim. Take your time, consider who you want to get your SPMU treatment by and if in doubt ask to see their credentials before you go for your treatment.
